Charges Proceed : July 9, 2008
Despite relentless questioning and heated arguments from the members, Local 793 has decided to proceed with the charges against Monti Rose in an effort to save face.
Charging your opponent in an election, using laws you had to publish after filing the charges may seem unfair -- but Local 793 has realized that inaction would be admitting they've abused their power and broken the laws of our constitution. So the charges will proceed well after the elections are finished in September.
More information will be posted on this password free web site as it becomes available, and Monti Rose will be fighting for members rights to hold fair and unobstructed election campaigns.
Monti and The Original Web Developer Charged
On May 13, 2008 Monti Rose received a threatening letter from Mike Gallagher, Business Manager of Local 793. In the letter, Brother Gallagher stated that Monti Rose must contact the Elections Committee to establish password protection on this campaign web site or face charges from Local 793.
Apparently, our Constitution was modified in 2007 by The International and now includes a "Campaign Web Site Resolution" which is available here

Within one hour of receiving the letter, this web site was updated with a "Members Only" agreement (To comply with the spirit of the constitution amendment) and an official letter was drafted and sent off to the International as well as the Elections Committee. No official response or instructions on implementing password protection have yet been received.
Brother Gallagher recommended that the web site be shut-down in the Interim, which is not a directive from the Constitution, the Elections Committee or The International.
Presidential Nominee Monti Rose does not agree with shutting down the web site. He does not believe this new, and until recently unannounced ammendment to our Constitution should be applied to him alone while Local 793 is allowed to continue campaigning on their web site and through their publications - all without password protection.
Despite being in FULL COMPLIANCE with the requirements of our International Constitution (seeking instruction from the Elections Committee and The International) Local 793 President Gary O'Neill has filed charges against both Monti Rose and even the original developer of this web site.
Monti is awaiting instructions from the Elections committee and The International, and plans to fight these charges on behalf of all members of Local 793 that want a fair and unobstructed campaign process. If password protection does not obstruct campaigning, why has our own Local 793 not complied with this "resolution" since it was introduced in 2007?
Do you want to vote for people that use such dirty campaign tactics?
